Accountability and Transparency

Donations received by the Association are donated entirely, without any management costs, to the project in favor of street children in Congo, carried out together with the local association "Msaada kwa Wanyonge."

Crowdfunding

Our association launched a Crowdfunding in April 2024, named "Help the street children of Kamituga," which, over a period of more than a year, was instrumental in being able to support the costs of setting up Maison Msaada and to finance the first months of activities.

To everyone who supported us on GoFundMe: a heartfelt thank you for your invaluable help. It helped us a lot to fund the initial stages.

Continue to support us with a wire transfer, PayPal donation or by "buying" something in our "direct support" store.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart

the current situation

Since early 2025, much of North and South Kivu (the easternmost regions of Congo) have been in a severe humanitarian crisis following the occupation of Goma, then Bukavu and Uvira (the main cities of Kivu) by the rebel armies known as M23/AFC. This is a conflict primarily related to the control of mineral resources, the origins of which are ancient, and the international implications enormous. Currently (early 2026), eastern Congo is divided between occupied and unoccupied regions, anarchy rages, along with violence, looting, and ongoing human rights violations. The population suffers harassment not only from the occupiers, but also, and perhaps even more so, from the self-defense armies and the Congolese Armed Forces (FARDC), which fund themselves largely through extortion and looting of the defenseless population. Acts of violence against women are also commonplace. Mwenga Centre, where Maison Msaada is located has not been occupied, but has become a place of continuous passage of military and armed groups and a base camp of theirs. The frontline, throughout 2025, has alternately approached and moved away from the gates of Mwenga, with repeated escapes of the population to the forest. Different factions of Armed groups have been clashing for several days within a few hundred meters of our center. The mud road leading from Bukavu to Mwenga (Route Nationale N 2) is largely destroyed due to heavy rains, the basic rehabilitation work normally carried out during the short dry season having failed. The same road, in addition to crossing the fighting front, is dotted with military checkpoints where passersby are taxed, rummaged, checked and robbed. All of this has caused a steep rise in the prices of commodities, both the few that are locally produced and the products that, with time and effort manage to arrive from Bukavu. Local production has also been greatly reduced as a result of repeated population flight, looting, military occupation, and the search for other means of livelihood (particularly the carrying of heavy goods arriving by truck from Bukavu, the trucks and motorcycles being blocked by mud approx. 15 km from Mwenga Centre). All this, along with other factors again related to the crisis established in the region (closure of banks etc.) made the basic costs to run the center's activities have increased significantly. Thanks to your support we have been able to continue with the activities, although there have been very difficult times. We still need your help to move forward and stand by the people at a particularly difficult time.
